Large civil contractor seeking a Pre-construction Manager / Bid Manager to join its diverse team. The Pre-Construction/Bid Manager will be responsible for managing general business operations personnel, responding to internal and external requests for proposals and cost estimates, reviewing estimates and proposals prepared by estimators, project and construction managers, and ensuring all proposals comply with company risk management policies.
Projects
- Typical projects include shoring components for deep excavations, installation of deep soil mixed, secant pile and jet grout walls, and the installation of micropiles and ground anchors for structural support and slope stability applications.
- The role is project management-oriented during bid phases and involves coaching and project auditing during construction.
- You will manage proposals from receipt through approval and release, including negotiation phases.
- The role is primarily office-based, working with Business Operations, Estimators, Contracts Managers, and Project Managers, reporting to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will develop relationships with clients and mentor junior staff.
Requirements
Experience/Education
- 10 to 15 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying, or construction management preferred.
- Experience in estimating, scheduling, cost control, and contract management on projects over $2M.
- Experience liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Experience with ground engineering or shoring projects is an asset.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of contractual agreements and risk assessment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Good knowledge of civil and building construction markets.
- Proficiency with project management and estimating software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- Familiarity with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
