Job summary

FortisBC is seeking a Pre-Apprentice Power Line Technician in Princeton, BC. The role assists the line crew from the ground and provides hands-on training in a short-term program designed to lead to a full-time apprenticeship.

The position runs for up to six months with potential progression to permanent roles. Candidate must meet minimum education, possess a Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement, and be capable of significant physical work while learning on the job.

Qualifications

  • English 12, Math 11 and Physics 11 required.
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a Lineperson from the ground as a trades helper.
  • Perform pole framing, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, road maintenance, line patrol etc.
  • Gain skills by performing tasks under supervision to advance in the trade.
  • Inspect and safely operate vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Handle, use and care for hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Perform duties of the Labourer classification as needed.
