The Team
At Salmon Arm Community Corrections, you will be part of the Salmon Arm/Vernon office partnership, joining the small sized, experienced team that serves the Shuswap region, and is part of the traditional territory of the Secwépemc. Our staff includes a mix of roles: Office Administration Assistant, Probation Officer 15, and Probation Officer 24s, as well as shared leadership with Vernon, all working together to support community safety. The Role
As a Probation Officer 15, you will play a vital role in supervising adults placed on probation, conditional sentences, bail, and other legal orders, ensuring that clients understand and comply with the conditions set by the court. You will monitor client behavior and progress, documenting and reporting any violations to appropriate authorities while also developing personalized case management plans based on assessments of client needs. This includes referrals to critical community resources such as mental health support, addiction counseling, and Indigenous justice services. Additionally, you will assist probation officers with risk assessments, provide specialized bail supervision, and facilitate alternative measures such as community work service or restorative justice initiatives. This role offers the chance to build meaningful connections with the community, participate in diverse and unique initiatives, and provide vital support to individuals at pivotal moments in their lives, making it deeply rewarding.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
• Preference may be given to applicants who have a minimum of 3 months experience as a probation officer/probation officer 14 in a Community Corrections office.
• Preference may be given to those with a minimum of 3 months experience working with people with complex social, health, or legal needs.

This position is based in Salmon Arm.
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31st, 2026. This position may be extended.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
