Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide onsite leadership and oversight of the veterinary healthcare team to maximize hospital performance.
- Lead improvements in customer service and medical care quality.
- Ensure smooth communication during client visits and work with the Medical Director to resolve concerns.
- Oversee client communication such as welcome letters, sympathy cards, and newsletters, ensuring adherence to protocols and timelines.
- Implement team scripting, in-hospital marketing, and social media content to attract and retain clients, increase referrals, and build community goodwill.
- Meet client needs for timely veterinary care, track new clients and visits, and achieve appointment and surgery fill rate goals.
- Ensure the team has adequate resources to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Understand and help manage the hospital’s financial drivers.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels, control costs, and plan for equipment and facility needs in collaboration with the Regional Manager and Medical Director.
- Prepare financial and bookkeeping reports, and keep accurate financial records.
- Manage staffing schedules and verify financial health supports planned hires.
- Act as a positive role model, fostering collaboration, open communication, and proactive relationships.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team with a focus on accountability and morale.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies for improvement.
- Review and optimize fee schedules, revenue categories, and discounting practices.
- Utilize available resources to analyze operations and make effective decisions regarding assets, hires, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all controls, standards, and regulations, including training when needed.
- Provide coaching, development, and training to team members.
- Assist with clerical duties, client intake/discharge, scheduling, and front office flow when needed.
Education
- Minimum two years of leadership experience in a veterinary or medical healthcare setting preferred.
- Business administration training preferred.
- Understanding of Human Resources, with experience in leadership and innovation.

- Experience in strategic planning, resource forecasting, and budget management.
- Proven skills in coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels and communicate effectively.
