Your Opportunity
Our Power group is seeking an experienced Business Centre Practice Leader to act in a Director-level capacity, aligned with a Stantec office in Ontario, with time spent in the Waterloo and/or Markham office(s).

As a leader, you'll be central to delivering power solutions for our clients. We want someone with a proven track record of winning pursuits, building teams, and executing large-scale Power projects. If you're seeking a leadership role with growth potential—this is the role for you.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Client Focus
  • Exceed client expectations through strong account management and leading major client accounts
  • Achieve marketing and business development goals, including internal cross-selling, targeting 25% of your time
  • Conduct at least 4 client feedback surveys annually and address issues with action plans
  • Lead pursuits and campaigns for major opportunities
  • Drive client relationship strategies with Principals and Business Centre leaders
  • Set the tone among all leaders in the Business Centre

Business Development and Collaboration

  • Contribute to pursuit strategies and project execution, tracking success and ROI
  • Lead Business Centre growth through development and leadership of business development and sales strategies
  • Manage the marketing and business development plan, including cross-selling
  • Enhance Stantec’s visibility through key client engagements
  • Establish and monitor Go/No Go review processes
  • Collaborate on pursuits across geographies and business lines
  • Maintain opportunity pipeline and optimize business development and employee utilization
  • Build local marketplace reputation through relationships and regional support
  • Develop and maintain Stantec’s Integrated Practice in the Business Centre

Project Focus

  • Lead delivery of significant project pursuits
  • Achieve a minimum direct utilization of 25%
  • Participate in major projects, providing content and oversight
  • Oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits

Practice

  • Inspire and motivate teams to deliver innovative design solutions
  • Ensure project excellence, quality, and adherence to best practices
  • Foster design excellence across disciplines
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and project management frameworks
  • Lead or oversee digital practices and tools

People Leadership

  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent
  • Engage with employees regularly and communicate vision and strategy
  • Support talent management, including career development and diversity initiatives
  • Manage performance and compensation processes
  • Direct reports include operational staff in Ontario and Quebec

Influence and Support

  • Act as a trusted leader and counselor within the Business Centre
  • Maintain key client relationships and pursue strategic opportunities
  • Reinforce a high-performance, innovative, and ethical culture
  • Collaborate on operational issues and budget planning
  • Support revenue growth, profitability, and safety performance targets

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Heavy Industrial Processes, Energy, Power Delivery, Renewable Energy, Hydropower
  • Strong understanding of the Power industry and key players
  • Ability to evaluate project opportunities aligned with strategic goals
  • Proven success in team collaboration, pursuit wins, and project delivery

Education and Experience

  • Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered in Canada
  • Minimum 15 years of Power design and project engineering experience in utilities, EPC, or consulting
