Powerline Technician OR a 3rd /4th year Power Line Technician Apprentice

Rideau St. Lawrence Distribution is the local electricity distributor for ~ 6,000 customers located in Cardinal, Iroquois, Morrisburg, Westport, Williamsburg and the Town of Prescott. Our location is perfect for people who want to enjoy the great outdoors and for people who want to be close to large city amenities. We are located 1 hour south of Ottawa and 2 hours west of Montreal.

We are seeking qualified distribution Powerline Technician OR a 3rd /4th year Power Line Technician Apprentice who is of high integrity, takes ownership, and someone who cares. Qualifications

  • 3rd/4th year Distribution Power Line Technician Apprentice or Possess a Powerline Technician Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification (or equivalent).
  • Valid Class DZ or AZ-Restricted Driver’s License in good standing (Minimum)
  • Master electrician license with the ESA considered an asset.
  • Grade 12 High School Diploma

Primary Duties & Responsibilities for the position include but not limited to:

  • Understands, Adheres and follows all industry regulations (IHSA, OHSA)
  • Ensure personal safety and that of others in a sometimes dangerous, electrical environment by understanding and abiding to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all electrical duties and tasks in a safe and timely manner.
  • Read blueprints and drawings for construction, maintenance and troubleshooting underground and overhead electrical distribution systems to provide safe and reliable electrical service to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
  • Performs safety circle checks on all vehicles, tools and PPE
  • Provides regular rotational on call support to respond to, and resolve, after hour emergencies promptly with minimal disruption to service.
  • Work in a physically demanding environment that includes heavy lifting, stretching and pulling, climbing, working at heights and extreme weather conditions
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills to document materials used on jobs and maintain accurate inventory management.
  • Demonstrate Effective communication skills to successfully interact with customers colleagues
