Power System Electrician (PSE) Apprentice - 1st year

Role Overview

Reporting to the site supervisor, the Power System Electrician (PSE) Apprentice will work alongside a Journeyman, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution systems and equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
  2. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  3. Install, repair, and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.
  4. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and defects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
  5. Assist in QA/QC documentation.
  6. Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specifications.
  7. Identify components and mount nameplates and other identification tools according to wiring diagrams.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to properly use basic tools such as power saws, drills, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret the Canadian Electric Code and Electrical Utility Code.
  • Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning skills.
  • Good communication and reading skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Safety tickets (e.g., CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Arrest, Aerial Platform) are an asset.
