Job description

Job Title: Power Supply & Traction Power Engineer
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Type: Contract
Compensation: $90 - $95 hourly
Contractor Work Model: 3 days in office, 2 remote

System One is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Power Supply & Traction Power Engineer to work on our RSSOM project. The successful candidate's ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, CA.

Accountabilities
  1. 5 to 10 years of Engineering and Commissioning expertise.
  2. Knowledge of the Design and Development processes, related procedures, and instructions, KPIs.
  3. Knowledge of the system, subsystems of a transportation system, and related interactions, system architecture.
  4. Knowledge of the basic technical concepts and the main PS&TP architecture and equipment.
  5. Knowledge of the principles of electrical system design.
  6. Knowledge of the process of checking that Traction Power and Power Supply meet specifications and fulfill their purposes, including factory and on-site testing.
  7. Knowledge of the process of verifying that electrical systems meet specifications and requirements, including factory and on-site testing.
  8. Knowledge of commissioning rules and standards relevant to the specific project and country, ensuring adherence and proper training of involved personnel.
  9. Knowledge of the railway environment, related risks, rules, and adherence in planning and executing commissioning activities.
  10. Ensure interface with other relevant technologies.
  11. Plan and coordinate test activities on-site according to schedule.
  12. Verify Power Supply & Traction Power documents as per V&V Plan.
  13. Execute tests, prepare reports, identify non-compliances, and propose remedies.
  14. Identify contractual requirements for PS&TP design.
  15. Contribute to standardization of contact line across projects.
  16. Monitor activity completion against project budget.
  17. Reduce design releases compared to previous projects.
Preferred Profile

Experience in traction power systems or related electrical systems.

Education / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Ontario P.Eng is highly desirable.
