Job summary

Ledcor Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Foreperson/General Foreperson to lead crews in the construction and installation of overhead transmission lines in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You will oversee work on lattice towers, h-frames, and wooden poles, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

You will manage tools and equipment, read blueprints, coordinate daily production, and mentor apprentices while maintaining rigorous OH&S practices and teamwork across the crew.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification.
• 5+ years of experience as journeyman PLT.
• Ability to climb poles using spikes and rigging and to work from bucket trucks or man-lifts.
• Strong knowledge of transmission line construction methods, tools, and safety procedures.
• Distribution experience a benefit also.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
• Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 1 or 3 preferred; able to provide a five year driver’s abstract.
• Physically able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Description

You are an experienced Foreperson or General Foreperson for Powerline Construction who supports the construction and installation of overhead transmission and distribution lines. You will support the construction of lattice towers, steel and wood h-frames, single wood poles, and stringing various conductor sizes. You enjoy working at heights, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring that electrical and communication systems are installed safely and to industry standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead crews in the construction of overhead transmission lines.

Qualifications

• Previous experience leading a crew of PLTs.
• 5+ years of experience as journeyman PLT.
• Ability to climb poles using spikes and rigging and to work from bucket trucks or man-lifts.
• Strong knowledge of transmission line construction methods, tools, and safety procedures. Distribution experience a benefit also.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
• Class 5 driver’s license required: Class 1 or 3 preferred. Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract.
• Physically able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Work Conditions

• 14 days on (or 21 if requested), 7 days off, working 11.5 hour days.
• Overtime rates apply after 8 hours worked per day and 40 hours per week.
