TransAlta Corporation in Ontario is seeking an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support safe and efficient operation of generating stations. You will perform technical research, evaluate equipment options, cost estimates, troubleshooting, and ensure regulatory compliance across the plant lifecycle.

This full-time, salaried, safety-sensitive position is based at the Kingston Generating Station in Kingston, Ontario, with up to 30% travel to remote site locations for field work.

Qualificações

• Electrical Engineering degree; P.Eng. eligibility with PEO or mobility across provinces.
• 4–6 years in thermal/gas-fired power generation or related industries.
• Hands-on experience with switchgear/MCCs, motors, generators, transformers, power system analysis, protection and coordination, turbine control systems, DCS, PLCs, fire alarm systems, and SCADA.

Responsabilidades

• Undertake electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering projects for the generating fleet.
• Supervise engineering and project management work across the business.
• Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting electrical equipment issues and delivering sound recommendations.
• Research and analyze technical solutions and equipment options for cost and performance.
• Interpret and apply industry standards and TransAlta best practices for code compliance while balancing cost, quality, and reliability.
• Support major maintenance activities such as turnarounds and outages, including development of work scopes.
• Lead project development activities including technology assessment, conceptual design, bid evaluation, and contract reviews.
• Assess, recruit, and manage consultants, contractors, and suppliers to meet project resource requirements.
• Promote and reinforce Health, Safety, Security, and Environment policies and procedures.
• Provide support to other business areas as required.
