Job description

As a Power Engineer, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting power systems to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable generation and distribution of energy. Your goal will be to optimize system performance, minimize downtime, and adhere to industry regulations and safety standards. Your success will be measured by your ability to maintain operational excellence, achieve energy efficiency targets, and contribute to the overall reliability and sustainability of the power infrastructure.

Your Responsibilities

  • The safe and efficient operation of the Utilities Department which includes steam generation, hot oil system, HVAC, and water conditioning.
  • Act as liaison with Province and ensure inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels and related systems are completed.
  • You will ensure that established targets for safety, production, and quality are met or exceeded while maintaining compliance with environmental and government regulations.
  • Establish short- and long-range objectives for strategic planning including efficiency levels and continuous improvement.
  • Work with Management to develop and monitor operating budgets and identify capital project requirements.
  • Support the Maintenance Department to plan daily repairs and scheduled shutdowns.
  • Ensure the facility is operated and maintained to corporate, industry, and legislative standards and rules.
Your Skills

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with a team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting power systems, including boilers, turbines, and generators.
  • Experience with boilers is required.
  • Strong knowledge of energy regulations, safety standards, and compliance practices within the industry.
  • Experience in conducting routine inspections and performance testing on power equipment.
Your Experience

  • Class 4 Power Engineer Certification.
  • Power Engineering Technology, field of study.
  • Experience Level: 2-10 years.
  • Additional trade qualifications would be considered an asset.
