Job summary

Drake International in Aurora, Ontario, is seeking a Data Analyst – Power BI & Financial Analytics to join the finance team. You will design and maintain Power BI dashboards, analyze income statements and cash flow, and support budgeting, forecasting, and integration of acquired businesses.

Reporting to the CFO, you will standardize KPIs, automate recurring reports, collaborate across functions, and present insights to leadership.

Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in data analysis, BI, financial analytics.
Experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports.
Strong knowledge of Power Query, DAX, data modelling, data visualization, and dashboard optimization.
Solid understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, working capital, revenue recognition, expenses, and profitability.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modelling, and performance reporting.
Understanding of job costing, project profitability, cost allocations, and construction-related financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills, pivot tables, and data validation.
Experience using SQL to extract and analyze data from multiple sources.
Ability to consolidate information across systems and departments.
Experience reconciling analytical reports to financial records and investigating data discrepancies.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Post-secondary education in related fields; CPA designation or progress considered asset.
Experience in construction, manufacturing, ERP systems, or multi-company reporting is an asset.
Familiarity with Jonas Construction Software is a strong asset.
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure, APIs, data warehouses, or cloud reporting tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for executive, financial, operational, and workforce reporting.
Analyze income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, revenue, margins, and operating expenses.
Prepare budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis and identify drivers for improvement.
Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, financial modelling, and scenario analysis.
Analyze project and job-cost performance including labour, materials, equipment, and overhead allocations.
Identify margin erosion, cost overruns, and discrepancies between estimated and actual performance.
Monitor working capital, A/R aging, DSO, inventory, and cash flow metrics.
Develop Power BI data models, DAX measures, KPIs, and interactive reporting.
Use Power Query, Excel, and SQL to extract, clean, transform, and consolidate data from multiple sources.
Integrate data from ERP, HRIS, spreadsheets, databases, and applications.
Standardize reporting definitions, mappings, KPIs, and reporting structures across entities.
Automate recurring reporting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Support integration of acquired businesses through data migration and standardization.
Collaborate with Finance, Operations, IT, Sales, and People and Culture to deliver solutions.
Present findings and financial insights to management, explaining trends and actions.
Document processes, data sources, assumptions, and maintain data confidentiality.
