Job summary

Tayco is seeking a BI Specialist / Data Analyst to turn manufacturing and business data into actionable reporting. You will design and maintain Power BI reports and data models, tune SQL, and support Crystal Reports used for operational and printed reporting at Tayco's Etobicoke facility.

Collaborating with two developers and a project coordinator, you will translate management requests into defined reporting requirements and ensure visuals are clear and informative for executives.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in business intelligence, computer science, information systems, statistics, or a related field, or 3–5 years of BI or data analysis experience.
• Proficiency with Power BI including data modelling, DAX measures, Power Query, and scheduling refreshes.
• Strong SQL skills including joins, aggregations, window functions, views, and performance tuning against relational databases.
• Experience developing and maintaining Crystal Reports.
• Windows Server administration related to reporting (scheduled tasks, permissions, file shares, distribution).
• HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap to embed reports and make small UI changes.
• Git and GitHub for version control, including branching and code review.
• Ability to use AI-assisted tools judiciously and explain outputs to stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Tayco’s reporting environment (Power BI, Crystal Reports).
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services or Power BI Report Server, data warehouse or star schema design is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and data models for management.
• Write, review, and tune SQL for reporting (queries, views, stored procedures).
• Develop and maintain Crystal Reports for operational and printed reporting.
• Translate management requests into reporting requirements and define the level of detail needed.
• Apply consistent visual design to reports and dashboards for readability.
• Administer reporting infrastructure on Windows Server (scheduled jobs, permissions, file shares).
• Contribute light front-end work to in-house web apps (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap).
• Prepare management presentation materials and status reports.
• Use Git/GitHub for version control of reports and code.
• Verify figures against source systems and troubleshoot discrepancies.
• Document data sources, measures, and reporting processes; train users.
