Job description

Who we are:

In 1996, Farmers Depot was established and has grown to be the complete animal health and equipment supplier for livestock producers across Canada providing thousands of quality animal health products at a competitive price with next day delivery, and product support. Farmers Depot is under the GVF Group of Companies umbrella and operates in close affiliation with Grand Valley Fortifiers and Fortified Nutrition Limited. Both brands manufacture and sell high-quality, leading-edge vitamin and mineral premixes and supplements for swine, dairy, beef and poultry producers.

The GVF Group of Companies empowers farmers to produce meat, milk, and eggs profitably and sustainably for the advancement of human lives, nutrition and health.

Ours is a family business that cares about its employees and its community. We make sure that all our staff get what the best in class team members deserve: benefits, good wages, and respect. Whether through our charitable work, or our dedication to staff, GVF is committed to living out our principles and values.

Why we have this role:

Farmers Depot’s goal is to help livestock producers run the most profitable farm they can, built upon the concepts of good farm hygiene, clean water, and preventative health, reducing the need for antibiotics in livestock. As a Poultry-focused HyCare Sales Specialist, you will grow and maintain the sales of Farmers Depot and Schippers HyCare products in Ontario. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial bent, and a likeable selling style. You will engage customers with a consultative approach, seeking to understand their business and their business goals, and then use the multitude of product and service solutions that Farmers Depot has, to bring a customer-focused solution.

Working with us:

Given the nature of your role, you must reside in Southwestern Ontario and will be required to drive and travel across this region, within your assigned territory, to visit customers and attend company-wide sales team meetings, trainings, or events as requested. This role will be based out of your home office.

What you’ll do:

  1. Support livestock producers in improving farm performance and profitability by applying Farmers Depot concepts and products, and collaborating with internal teams to solve on-farm challenges.
  2. Expand the number of poultry producers working with Farmers Depot by promoting our proactive health approach—centered on hygiene, clean water, and preventative care—to reduce reliance on antibiotics in Canadian livestock. Special emphasis will be placed on Schippers HyCare products.
  3. Work closely with the Grand Valley Fortifiers feed and nutrition sales teams to generate leads and support their customers. Activities may include joint farm visits, technical support, and participation in sales team meetings.
  4. Build and maintain a strong knowledge base of all Farmers Depot and Schippers products and programs. Full training will be provided.
  5. Stay current with new product offerings and service solutions to better serve customer needs.
  6. Promote the use of Service Plans and encourage regular reordering of consumables to ensure equipment runs efficiently and farms operate smoothly.
  7. Deliver on-farm product demonstrations and perform equipment installations, including Digi-Doser pumps and Greenline sanitation systems. Oversee early stages of floor coating installations and provide light technical servicing of equipment as needed. This includes diagnosing issues, performing minor repairs, or replacing pumps for refurbishment. (Training provided; no trade certification required, but mechanical aptitude is an asset.)
  8. Independently manage and prioritize your schedule to grow and maintain sales in your territory.
  9. Attend industry meetings, events, and tradeshows throughout the year to represent Farmers Depot and build relationships.
  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information in our CRM system. Use Power BI reporting tools to analyze customer data, monitor progress, and identify opportunities for growth.

Your background includes:

  1. A true passion for agriculture and farming and have some relevant industry experience.
  2. Strong sales focused background with an ability to provide service to producers and work through their problems and answer their questions.
  3. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  4. Willingness to learn and ability to quickly understand product knowledge and information.
  5. Solid organizational skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  6. Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle 5 days a week.
  7. Ability to travel within your assigned region five days a week with an occasional requirement to make overnight stays.

Why work with us:

  1. Canadian Family-Owned and Operated Company.
  2. Extended health and dental benefits.
  3. RRSP matching program.
  4. Profit sharing bonus.
  5. Sales Performance bonus.
  6. Donation matching program.
  7. Professional development opportunities.
