ePac Flexible Packaging is a rapidly growing manufacturer of digitally printed packaging. The Pouch Assistant will support the Pouch Operator in converting high-quality pouches at our Mississauga plant, handling setup, quality checks, and light maintenance tasks.

You will contribute to efficient production, data entry, and safety compliance in a fast-paced environment while learning multiple facets of the production process.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Flexible with shifts.
• Shift schedule: mornings 6am–4pm, evenings 4pm–2am.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Package finished product at assigned workstation.
• Change rolls and cut out splices.
• Check pouch quality during production.
• Assist Pouch Operator with machine setup and run.
• Maintain quality control sheets and production data.
• Prepare packing cartons and labels as required by the Work Order.
• Follow SOPs and material handling procedures.
• Ensure clean and safe work area.

ePac Flexible Packaging is a rapidly growing, digital printing company with locations across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Indonesia. ePac’s mission is to provide locally-based consumer packaged goods companies the ability to compete with large brands with great packaging.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Pouch Assistant works with the Pouch Operator to convert high quality pouches for ePac and will perform various manual and mechanical duties to provide assistance in the set up and operation of our pouch machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Package finished product at one of several workstations as assigned
• Change rolls and cut out splices
• Check pouch quality continually during production run
• Maintain Quality control check sheet, data entry, effective run rate, production and waste reports
• Make packing cartons and carton labels as required by the Work Order.
• Follow all instructions on work order and S.O.P. and the established material handling procedure
• Assist Pouch Operator with Pouch Machine set up and run
• Inform Pouch Operator of any defective material, maintenance issues and safety issues
• Stage proper equipment and secondary packaging (boxes, pallets, labels, etc) necessary for production jobs based on production schedule
• Clean and maintain equipment in preparation for next production run
• Trash and trim removal and production site clean up
• Recommend improvement of production in terms of efficiency and workflow
• Observe & follow safety / quality / SQF regulatations.
• Support other parts of the operations including press assistant, slitting, and lamination as and when required
• Other duties as assigned by management and supervisors.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Must be flexible in work schedule & shifts
• Shift Flexibility - Morning Shift is 6am-4pm and Evening Shift is 4pm-2am.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is around, moving mechanical parts and vibration
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
