The Ministry of SaskBuilds & Procurement, Mail Services and Records Centre Branch, Weyburn, has an immediate opening for a Permanent Part-time Postal Clerk located in Weyburn. The role runs Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m.

– 4:00 p.m., and handles a high volume of mail including sorting, metering and handling of letters, packages and boxes. You will operate postage meter equipment, provide information on rates/regulations, and lift up to 30 kg repeatedly.

Qualifications

• Reads, memoires and recalls codes/locations to sort and meter mail quickly and accurately.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 kg and stand for long periods, with exposure to noise/dust in a mail processing environment.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record for in-town deliveries.

The Opportunity:

The Ministry of SaskBuilds & Procurement, Mail Services and Records Centre Branch, has an immediate opening for a Permanent Part-time Postal Clerk located in Weyburn. This position will be the primary postal clerk and will be scheduled for Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This position is responsible for processing a large volume of incoming and outgoing mail for a client base. Duties of this position include sorting, metering and handling of letters, packages and boxes. You will read, understand, memorize, and recall various pieces of information such as codes, locations, etc. in order to sort and meter mail quickly and accurately. You will perform routine maintenance and operation of postage meter equipment, including changing ink cartridges and filling water wells. You will give information on postal rates and regulations. You will be required to lift and carry mail bags, boxes and parcels of up to 30kg and perform related duties as assigned.

Driving within the town is required for delivery and pick up of mail to various provincial government local offices. A government vehicle is provided to complete these duties.

The successful candidate must have a good driving record including a current and valid driver’s license as daily driving within the town is required. You must also havea thorough knowledge of the rules to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry heavy articles of up to 30kg, repeatedly, on a daily basis. This position requires standing for long periods of time, repetitive motion (wrist), some exposure to noise from machinery, exposure to dust, and handling of hazardous materials (i.e. medical specimens).

The successful candidate will be flexible to successfully adapt to changing work environments, processes, and workloads. He or she will also be creative and a team player to co-operatively discover and implement solutions to challenges that arise. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically obtained through a combination of education and/or related experience.
