Job summary

Canada Post / Postes Canada is seeking an on-call Post Office Assistant in Haines Junction, Yukon. You will provide counter services to customers, handle sales, and support postal operations in a community setting.

The ideal candidate lives in the community and can be flexible for temporary on-call work. Previous retail or service experience and ability to lift up to 50 lb are valued assets for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or provincial equivalency.
• Training and/or experience interacting with the public in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions.
• Understanding of general or post office accounting systems.
• Physically fit to lift mail containers of up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail and stand for extended periods of time.
• Flexibility to be available for temporary, on-call work.

Responsibilities

• Sell postal products and service to the business community and public.
• Sort, distribute and process mail into appropriate classifications.
• Provide customers with information and forms.
• Address delivery and service difficulties to resolve problems thoroughly and quickly.
• Customer-facing duties as required during on-call shifts.
• Assist with cash handling and point-of-sale transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of sales and transactions.
• Assist in general post office responsibilities as needed.
• Support team with daily tasks and customer inquiries.
