Job summary

The University of Alberta is seeking a Finance Analyst to provide post-award financial account support for research funding, including complex reporting and sponsor communications. This hybrid role combines remote and in-person work at Enterprise Square, Edmonton.

Responsibilities include preparing claims and financial statements, monitoring expenditures, subgrant processing, and ensuring GAAP-compliant revenue recognition.

Qualifications

  • Accounting designation or degree/diploma required.
  • Minimum two years financial experience in a research administration setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; high accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, signs off and submits claims to sponsors in multiple currencies.
  • Prepares, signs off and submits complex financial statements to sponsors.
  • Investigates and resolves financial discrepancies in budgets, revenue, billings, expenditures and project statements.
  • Administration and processing of subgrants.
  • Monitors and collects past due accounts receivable items.
  • Reviews funding awards to ensure financial reporting requirements are met.
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries and ensures revenue recognition per GAAP.
  • Identifies system errors and supports training updates for the University community.
  • Performs close of research projects after terms are met.
  • Ensures expenditures adhere to budgets and participates in system testing.
