The opportunity

Reporting to the VP, Investments & Lead Portfolio Manager, the Portfolio Manager, WAPC will be responsible for strategic input and oversight of activities within the Wellington-Altus Private Counsel division. The role involves promoting growth, client outcomes, efficiency, and best practices, aligned with company objectives.

Key responsibilities include
  • Providing advice and excellent service as a registered Advising Representative for the firm’s US division.
  • Collaborating with management to align operational goals with company strategy.
  • Implementing and monitoring strategy, policies, and key performance indicators.
  • Building partnerships with service providers to ensure accountability and efficiency.
  • Supporting recruitment and transition of new advisors.
  • Developing guidance on programs and solutions to optimize client outcomes.
  • Providing training and development for advisors and staff.
  • Supervising and coaching investment advisors, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Supporting marketing, training, and internal communications.
  • Participating in projects and initiatives for growth and efficiency.
  • Managing advisor inquiries and communication.
  • Assisting in forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in finance, business, economics, or related.
  • At least 5 years of securities industry experience.
  • Experience working with Investment Advisors, Portfolio Managers, and clients.
  • Deep understanding of securities products, markets, and strategies.
  • Current licensing as a Registered Representative or Advising Representative.
  • Completion of securities courses (Canadian Securities Course, Conducts and Practices Handbook).
  • Optional: CFA or CIM designation.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and systems like Morningstar, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and communication tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and high accountability.
Conditions of employment

  • Background check may be required.
