BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, ON is seeking a Portfolio Manager to lead a team of 6–9 PMs and oversee a portfolio of customer projects. The role focuses on program leadership, customer relations, and contract execution to drive portfolio performance.

You will ensure resources, budgets and schedules align with strategic objectives, manage risks, and support proposals and customer interactions. A strong PM background in nuclear energy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or similar field.
• 10 years of related industry experience.
• 7–10 years of project management experience in a project-based organization.
• Strong scheduling, earned-value, budget control, change and risk management skills.
• Contract management experience.
• Ability to organize, analyze and present large data sets.
• Experience with client management and fostering mutual success.
• PMI/PM certification is preferred.
• Experience in the nuclear energy production industry.
• Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Participate in recruitment, onboarding and performance management for project staff.
• Present portfolio performance data to stakeholders and guide project teams.

Position Overview:

The Portfolio Manager has accountability for managing a portfolio of customer projects while leading a team of 6 to 9 project managers, cordinators and project control specialists. Ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and delivering customer satisfaction through effective project oversight. This role combines program leadership, project management, and customer relationship management to drivesuccessful contract execution and portfolio performance.

Location:

This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

Your Day to Day:

• Support the development of departmental plans, goals and objectives for the effective execution of project management practices within the business.
• Provide effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
• Provide leadership and direction for the execution of a portfolio of projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality metrics.
• Ensure effective resource allocation and task prioritization across the portfolio of projects.
• Facilitate the identification, communication, and mitigation of risks across the portfolio, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance, industry standards, and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the key point of escalation for project challenges.
• Act as the PM for a subset of Projects within the customer portfolio.
• Support proposal development and review, including scope definition, estimate approval, and customer presentations.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management processes, tools, and best practices.
• Actively participate in resource planning, recruitment, onboarding, succession planning and performance management to ensure the availability of skilled personnel for project execution.
• Prepare and present portfolio performance data to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Provide strategic guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with customer and organizational objectives.
• Support accounts receivable processes to ensure timely receipt of customer payments

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or other suitable field from an accredited university
• 10 years of related industry experience
• 7-10 years of project management experience in a project based organization
• Demonstrable understanding of project management fundamentals: scheduling, earned-value management, budget control, change management, risk management
• Demonstrable understanding of contract management
• Demonstrable capabilities in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets
• Demonstrable understanding and experience regarding client management and commitment to client relationships and mutual success
• Professional mastery of English, in written and verbal forms
• Experience in the nuclear energy production industry
• High level of competency with Oracle Primavera P6
• High level of competency with Microsoft Excel
• Project Management Professional certification

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $116,000 and $162,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
