Portfolio Manager l Robo-Advisory

Location: Toronto

Work Model: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite)

ABOUT:

A leading Robo-Advisory is on the lookout for a Portfolio Manager to join their team in Toronto.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining client portfolios, leveraging algorithmic tools, financial modeling, and market research to drive investment decisions. You will play a key role in developing and refining systematic investment strategies while ensuring portfolios remain aligned with client objectives, risk tolerance, and evolving market conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage daily client account trading to maintain target asset allocations, including cash management, deposits, withdrawals, and rebalancing.
  • Conduct suitability analyses to ensure client risk profiles remain appropriate.
  • Serve as primary contact for investment-related inquiries, handling client communication, custodian coordination, and trade/account issues.
  • Support internal projects to improve efficiency, including risk questionnaire updates, portfolio management system migration, and model portfolio adjustments through ETF analysis.
  • Prepare client and internal reports (performance, gains/losses, activity) and update ETF performance data for marketing.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of financial markets, investment products, and robo-advisor compliance rules.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, persistence in problem-solving, and ability to manage repetitive or complex tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must currently be registered as Advising representative (AR) or as Associate advising representative (AAR) with the requisite experience and education to be registered as AR
  • CFA is highly preferred (will consider CIM + MBA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in portfolio management or related roles, with a demonstrated ability to manage client portfolios and generate strong investment returns.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, and investment strategies.
  • Proficiency in investment research, financial modeling, and portfolio management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex investment concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
