What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will provide insights and advice on portfolio management best practices, linking conceptual strategies of trading and rebalancing portfolios. You will assist teams in making informed decisions and analyzing business practices related to modeling, bulk trading, and other desktop applications, with the goal of resolving trading issues/errors and growing a scalable business.

You will train teams on technology to increase workflow efficiencies and coach them on optimizing the use of existing systems. You will also offer subject matter expertise to discretionary licensed investment advisors in modeling, bulk trading, and portfolio management best practices, including support for our Unified Managed Account (A+) platform.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting one-on-one meetings with discretionary and non-discretionary teams to understand their investment philosophy and strategy.
  2. Building and maintaining relationships with Portfolio Managers and their teams within Dominion Securities.
  3. Discussing best practices for Investment Policy Statements, asset monitoring, reviews, and operational processes.
  4. Assisting in setup and ongoing management of client portfolios, including changes in asset allocations and client transactions.
  5. Training new employees and recruits on trading and modeling platforms such as TradeLink, ClientLink, A+ Desktop, and TAC.
  6. Collaborating with teams and groups to improve modeling and portfolio management processes.
  7. Supporting the development of scalable tools for both discretionary and non-discretionary advisors.
  8. Providing hands-on support for portfolio management tasks within ClientLink, including model creation, trade execution, and exception handling.
  9. Guiding teams on transaction processes like withdrawals, deposits, and currency conversions, and preparing their books for modeling and trading.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with Dominion Securities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to build relationships.
  • Motivated, eager to learn, and capable of thriving in a high-performance environment.
  • CFALevel 1, CIM, or proven understanding of discretionary money management.
  • Willingness to travel up to two weeks per month, including overnight stays.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel.

Nice to Have:

  • Fluency in French (spoken and written).
  • Experience in Dominion Securities Retail branch environment, particularly with discretionary teams.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills; customer service focus.
  • Ability to manage change effectively.
  • Enjoys traveling for work.
