Northleaf Capital Partners is offering the opportunity to gain experience using data and technology with a leading private markets investment firm as an Analyst (Data Focus), Portfolio Strategy & Analytics (PS&A). The PS&A team's mandate is to improve outcomes for our investors by conducting analytics and research that supports the portfolio construction and risk management of Northleaf’s private markets funds. As an extension of this, the team is also involved in new product development activities.

PS&A is a growing team with a high-performance and supportive culture. As the firm continues to grow, there is ample room for professional growth in the team. The successful candidate will gain direct insight into the workings of a global private markets investment firm with a specific focus on Northleaf’s private credit investment strategy.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, PS&A and will work with other members of the PS&A and peers from other functions to develop reporting and analysis that supports investment decision making, ongoing portfolio management and communication of insights to investors.

Northleaf is seeking a driven individual with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in a financial or professional services firm, working with and analyzing data to generate business insights.

Day to day, your role may include:

  1. Collaborating with other members of the PS&A and Investor Relations teams, amongst others, to perform data analysis which supports internal decision-making and investor reporting requirements
  2. Automating business processes across the private credit team and developing dashboards which service internal or external reporting needs
  3. Analyzing Northleaf’s private credit investment portfolio and performance to develop insights that inform the portfolio strategy of existing and future investment funds
  4. Performing quarterly reviews of private credit portfolios, including assessments of performance and risk trending, stress tests and forward-looking projections
  5. Supporting broader organizational efforts to utilize cloud technologies to meet the current and forward-looking needs of the business
  6. Working with internal data and third-party data services to conduct research which informs investment decisions or fundraising activities

Qualifications

  1. Excellent academic credentials, including a university degree with a focus on a quantitative discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering, business analytics, finance etc.)
  2. High degree of technical proficiency - strong Excel skills and expertise in utilizing other analytical tools (e.g., Python, SQL) and data visualization tools (PowerBI or Tableau) are critical
  3. Experience in applying these skills in an investment management context is desirable
  4. Experience working with financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, Preqin) is desirable, though not critical
  5. Familiarity with cloud storage systems such as Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure is desirable, though not critical
  6. Demonstrated interest in investing and financial markets
  7. Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize to manage tasks to completion within required timeframes effectively
  8. Ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
  9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to liaise with all levels of individuals both internally and externally
