We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Master with a 500 Ton Command Endorsement Certificate and experience on Z-Drive Tugs.
Qualifications
- Years of Experience Required:
- 7-10 years
- 5 years experience as Master in a relevant field or one level below, or where applicable, completion of a relevant training/simulator program
- 500 Ton Master Certificate
- Certificate of Competency that complies with Flag State requirements for trading area and STCW endorsement
- GMDSS - GOC
- Marine Emergency Duties (including MED Refreshers)
- Transport Canada Marine Medical
- Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid and CPR
- WHMIS
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (TDG)
Responsibilities
- The implementation of Atlantic Towing Limited Policies and Management System requirements on board and motivation of the crew in the observance of the safety and environmental protection policy;
- Issuing orders in a clear and concise manner;
- Observing that the navigation of the vessel and day–to–day conduct of shipboard operations are carried out in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, good seamanship practices and company policies and procedures;
- Ensuring that a planned maintenance program is implemented and executed so that the vessel and her equipment are maintained in a proper condition, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, industry practices and additional requirements of Atlantic Towing Limited;
- Monitoring the vessel’s certification status and maintain an up–to–date file of the vessel’s certificates;
- Reporting accidents/incidents, hazardous situations and nonconformities;
- Ensuring that the vessel’s crew and emergency equipment are maintained in a high state of readiness to respond effectively to potential emergency situations;
- Muster Lists developed and posted and regular emergency drills conducted to identify areas where improvements can be made;
- Implementation of personnel–related procedures and arrangements, including proper sign–on of all crew, maintenance of the Articles of Agreement, verifying that all crew carry updated certificates of competency, training and medical fitness, performance appraisals, identification of training needs and provision of onboard training, crew discipline, etc;
- At specified intervals, preparing and submitting to the office the required management and performance reports, i.e., Change of Command, QHSE Reviews/Verifications, etc.
