Pork Production Technician

You must be legally entitled to work in Canada as the employer does not have a Labour Market Impact Assessment that would support a foreign worker.

The Production Technician supports the Manager and is responsible for the overall care and maintenance of the animals in the unit, ensuring that all targets are met.

General Responsibilities

1. Work in all areas of the barn
2. Ensure proper handling of stock
3. Carry out all company programs to meet production targets
4. Perform feeding routines for pigs and routine service on feed equipment
5. Provide water for animals and perform routine maintenance on water drinkers
6. Handle and administer medications and vaccines according to Medical Usage Plans or prescriptions
7. Monitor pig health, recognize signs of disorder, and report concerns
8. Follow biosecurity protocols and Animal Welfare Codes of Practice for all staff and visitors
9. Operate high-pressure washers to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards
10. Follow safe manure management procedures when cleaning manure pits
11. Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature using automated control systems
12. Keep accurate records and submit them promptly to the head office
13. Act safely at all times and report safety concerns to the safety representative or Unit Manager
14. Perform other duties as required

Education/Experience Required

• High school diploma preferred
• Prior experience in a hog barn preferred
