Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for a permanent full-time Pool Operator to ensure the safe and efficient operation of their pool facilities. The role includes water testing, maintaining pool chemistry, equipment maintenance, and adherence to operational guidelines. Ideal candidates will have experience in pool operations, relevant certifications, and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

The Pool Operator position encompasses the following : water testing in accordance with regulations, balancing pool chemistry to within industry regulations, maintain chemical barrels, perform backwashing of sand filters, DE tanks, clean / vacuum pools, perform pool inspections checks, perform necessary repairs and maintenance as required on DE tanks, wave units, skimmers, report required repairs to supervisor, open and close outdoor pools, provide chemical orders to supervisor, store chemical deliveries, perform general and annual maintenance on pools, and other duties assigned by supervisor. Indoor pool operations are year round; outdoor pool operations, typically May - October.

Security Clearance Requirements : Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check (including a Child Abuse Registry check).
Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.
Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position and have valid licensing, as required.

WORK STATUS : Permanent, Full-time
HOURS OF WORK : Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm, 40 hours per week
SALARY : $27.80 per hour as per the CUPE Local 108 Collective Agreement
WORK LOCATION : 375 Cowie Hill Road, Halifax; various HRM pool locations.
