Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) invites applications for a Polysomnography Technologist at Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Under supervision, you will perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research polysomnography studies and related therapies.

Requires 1–3 years of clinical experience, BRPT certification, CPR per policy, and strong communication skills. This maternity/parental term runs 10/30/2026 to 11/01/2027 with 0.73 FTE and in-person work across days and nights.

Qualifications

• One to three years of clinical experience as a Polysomnography Technician.
• Current and valid BRPT Certification.
• CPR training as per employer policy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must complete 50 hours of continuing education within five years, with a minimum of five hours per year.
• Basic computer skills/knowledge.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in polysomnography/ EEG/respiratory therapy.

Position Overview

A Polysomnography Technologist, under the direct supervision of the Polysomnography Coordinator and Sleep Disorder Centre/HVADS Manager (indirect reporting relationship to Sleep Disorder Centre Medical Director):

• Performs diagnostic, therapeutic and research. Polysomnography studies and related therapies.
• Performs routine equipment care and maintenance; conducts routine inventory of supplies.
• Participates in the day-to-day operations of the Sleep Disorder Centre.
• Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

Experience

• One (1) to Three (3) years clinical experience as a Polysomnography Technician is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Current and valid Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (B.R.P.T.) Certification.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

• Attends relevant education programs, seminars, lectures, workshops, etc. to provide high quality service to patients and the Centre.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of polysomnography/ EEG/respiratory therapy through current literature, publications, etc.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• You must earn 50 hours of continuing education within a five (5) year period, with a minimum of five (5) hours each year.
• Attends relevant education programs, seminars, lectures, workshops, etc., to provide high quality service to patients and the Centre.

Physical Requirements

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• In the performance of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemical vapours such as acetone, ether, or glutaraldehyde. There may also be skin contact with these substances.

This maternity/parental term may expire sooner than the date indicated subject to a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
