Responsibilities

The Sleep Technologist prepares adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorder testing. They monitor the polysomnogram and document according to policy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Arrive on time and review the night's duties and patient list.
  2. Review assigned patient charts, greet patients, complete necessary paperwork, and conduct pre-test assessments.
  3. Apply recording sensors, acclimate patients to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) if applicable, and perform pre-recording calibration.
  4. Monitor the recording throughout the night as per protocol, including documentation and interventions as needed.
  5. Conclude the recording following protocol, complete post-study documentation, remove sensors, and clean up.
  6. Score polysomnograms as needed and prepare reports for dictation. Assist in training, orientation, and competency assessments as required.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in sleep study activities.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current and unrestricted certification or registration in one of the following: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
Work Hours:

7 AM - 7 PM

Weekend Requirements:

Yes - Rotating basis
