Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada (Pauktuutit) is the national organization representing Inuit women in Canada. Our mission is to raise awareness of the needs of Inuit women and to promote their full social, economic, and cultural participation in communities across Inuit Nunangat and urban areas in Canada.

As the voice of Inuit women, Pauktuutit plays a key role in advocating for gender equality in policies affecting Inuit women and children, focusing on health and well-being, violence prevention, safety, and socio-economic development. Our effectiveness depends on partnerships with government departments, funders, Inuit community groups, and other stakeholders.

We are hiring multiple Policy Analysts focused on Violence and Abuse Prevention and Justice and Social and Economic Development.

The Policy Analyst supports the development and review of public policies through a gender-based lens, promoting cultural and gender equity in all initiatives.

Responsibilities include :

  • Recommending and implementing strategic initiatives in collaboration with the departmental manager.
  • Identifying policy and legislative opportunities and supporting submissions, briefing notes, and action plans.
  • Researching and analyzing information related to Inuit participation in social, cultural, and economic contexts, providing recommendations in consultation with Inuit organizations.
  • Maintaining policy and research records.
  • Monitoring emerging policy issues and opportunities.
  • Drafting submissions to governments and partners.
  • Identifying funding sources and assisting with project proposals and budgets.
  • Supporting workshops, meetings, and logistical arrangements.
  • Contributing to quarterly reports and representing the organization externally as requested.
  • Supporting organizational budgeting and financial commitments.

Note: Duties may evolve to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications :

Required :

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience, including experience working with Indigenous or government officials and funding organizations.
  • Minimum 1 year supporting social assessments related to Inuit or Indigenous communities.
  • Experience in community-based research and understanding of government policies affecting Inuit.
  • Knowledge of current issues in political, health, violence prevention, and socio-economic areas affecting Inuit is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of IQ principles and ability to apply them in policy analysis and advocacy.
  • Experience with gender-based policy analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for policy reports, briefs, and dissemination.
