Job summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Policy & Communication Consultant to advance human rights, promote Commission programs, and support its mandate to foster equality and reduce discrimination. You will lead communications strategies, analyze policy needs, and create accessible content for diverse audiences across channels.

Reporting to the Director of Communication, Education and Engagement, you will collaborate with leadership, partners, and stakeholders to translate complex information

Qualifications

• A university degree in social sciences, humanities, communications, public relations, marketing, public policy, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, marketing, stakeholder engagement, policy development, or a related field.
• Preference for content development across channels and translating complex information into clear language.
• Experience with digital tools and platforms such as SharePoint, Adobe applications, Canva, email-marketing platforms, and social media.
• Knowledge of Canadian Press style, plain-language principles, editing, graphic services, and print production.
• Experience with media relations, issues management, and government communications.
• Knowledge of human rights concepts, legislation, treaties, conventions, prevention strategies, and policy development.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications and marketing initiatives.

• Turn complex information into accessible content for diverse audiences.
