Our College is seeking a driven and strategic Policy Analyst to join our team.

The College of Alberta Dental Assistants is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the profession of dental assisting in Alberta. We are a collaborative, inclusive team committed to protecting the public and building trust in the delivery of safe, ethical, and competent oral health care. We focus on:

What You’ll Do

This newly created role reports directly to the Registrar & CEO. As Policy Analyst, you will design and lead the College’s centralized corporate policy program, provide strategic advice and guide the development of effective, consistent policies across the organization. You will:

• lead and manage a College-wide corporate policy framework
• conduct research across all areas of responsibility to identify policy gaps or needs
• review and update existing policies for clarity, consistency, and alignment with the Health Professions Act and Dental Assistants Profession Regulation, and the College’s Bylaws, Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics
• draft new policies using plain language and ensure they reflect the College’s mission, vision, and values
• collaborate with internal teams and consult with subject matter experts
• engage external stakeholders, where appropriate, to incorporate diverse perspectives
• provide analysis on proposed government policy initiatives as needed
• maintain an accessible archive of current and historical policy versions to support transparency and reference
• ensure policy language is clear and usable by all stakeholders, including the public, dental assistants, and decision-makers within the College

The Right Person

You are an analytical thinker and collaborative leader who thrives on problem-solving and clarity. You bring:

• post-secondary education, preferably in public administration, political science, law, or a related field
• at least 7 years of experience in a regulatory, government, or policy-focused environment
• excellent communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex ideas and write clearly in plain language
• strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks
• experience leading policy development processes across teams or departments
• adaptability and calmness under pressure, with a talent for finding creative solutions to complex problems
• a reputation for building strong, cross-functional relationships
• initiative and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks
