THE ROLE:

AsaSoftware Development Engineer and Member of Technical Staff, you willprovide technicalleadershipand strategic supportacrosstheAMD Radeon Open Ecosystem (ROCm)ecosystem.Youwill work collaborativelyas apart of a corelibrariesengineering teambuilding andmaintainingartificial intelligence and machine learning libraries.You will work cross-functionallywith ateam of talented computer scientists, software developers, and applied mathematiciansandfacilitatethe delivery of features on our product roadmaps.

THE PERSON:

To be successful in this role, you will be a hands-onsoftware development engineerwith strong technical skills anddemonstratedsuccessin shipping software in an Agile environment. You are passionate aboutleading through demonstration of technical excellenceand managing key engineering initiatives. Youare a strong communicator and canconvey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work collaborativelyacross library teams todesign, implement,validate, anddeliverkeysoftware librarycapabilities,ensuringsuccessful integrationwithGPUkernelsinto broader systems.

• Provideinput to architecture, design, and documentation efforts as they arise acrossteams-Work closely with senior developers, architects, and stakeholders tomaintainalong-term strategyand coordinate withsubject matter expertsin GPU technologies. Provideguidance and mentorshipacross integrated libraries andengineering teams on complex technical challenges.

• Collaborate with principal members of staff todevelop the best technical designs and approachesthat holistically consider constraints, performance, and roadmap commitments.Self-manage, execute, and report progress against project plans and delivery commitments.

• Demonstrate technical and team leadership by proactivelyidentifyinggaps and developing plans to remediate in collaboration with library owners and engineering principal colleagues.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Extensive and hands-on experience withC++,withrelevantapplied experience using CUDA, HIP,OpenMP, MPI,or OpenCLfor accelerated computing on CPUs and GPUs.

• Experiencewithanddemonstratedcontributionsemployingcontinuous improvement of the softwarelifecycle,including build robustness, regressionand performance management,softwaredeployment and orchestration management (Docker/Kubernetes)and variousmethodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban.

• Experience with open-source software development including collaboration with community maintainers andsubmittingcontributions.

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle including requirements elicitation and analysis, scoping/estimation, coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, and continuous integration.

• Experienceworking intheday-to-day activities of an engineering team using Agile methods.

• Knowledge of AI/ML Frameworks, Operators, Patterns, and Architectures.Familiarity with applied use of TensorFlow,PyTorch, and JAX.

• Familiarity with numerical methods and applications in technicalandhigh performancecomputing.
