Job description

Your Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in our growth strategy. As our Foreman – Plumber, you will learn and apply company methods, practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to the installation of modern plumbing and hydronics systems. You will be responsible for managing commercial and multi-unit residential plumbing projects, working as part of a team to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, safely, and to a high standard. You will also lead Plumbing Apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a team of apprentices.
  • Liaise with Foreman / Site Superintendent / Operations Director.
  • Manage the installation of commercial plumbing and hydronics systems.
  • Maintain project schedules and understand methods, taking accountability.
  • Stay current with health and safety practices and promote a safe work environment.
  • Implement task-specific Method Statements, Tool Box Talks, and Risk Assessments.
  • Interpret construction and schematic drawings, technical literature, and equipment specifications to determine plumbing layouts.
  • Install foundation plumbing, sumps, and other foundation plumbing components.
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
  • Join pipes using System 15, ABS, Brazing, Soldering, Cast iron pipe, Pex piping.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Manage installation of bathtubs, shower drains, fixtures, etc.
  • Keep workspaces clean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure timely administrative tasks for all projects.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and develop solutions for issues.
  • Use technical, personal, and teamwork skills to complete jobs safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Mentor junior apprentices to improve their effectiveness.
  • Participate in ongoing technical and professional training to develop skills.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years plumbing experience.
  • Plumbing / Gas-fitting Red Seal Ticket.
  • Level 1 First Aid (asset).
  • WHMIS knowledge (asset).
  • Own personal hand tools; company provides additional tools.
