Job description

Plumber (CAMH Facility Maintenance)

The Maintenance Plumber will report to the Sr. Facility Manager on site and to the site Contract Manager.

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in commercial buildings.

The CAMH Facility O&M Inc location operates 24/7 on rotating shifts.

This role will be based in Toronto, ON.

Your role within the team:
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures in buildings. Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Plan, install, and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, equipment, and controls for transporting water, waste, gases, or hot liquids.
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials.
  • Identify required tools, equipment, and pipe sizes.
  • Locate and mark connection and fixture positions.
  • Install supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings.
  • Maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls.
  • Work on underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems, sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, and air conditioners.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim.
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
  • Ensure compliance with all building codes, installation requirements, and relevant legislation.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Apply all relevant codes to installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Meet manufacturer requirements for systems and fixtures.
  • Ensure installations, repairs, and maintenance meet code and environmental protection standards.
  • Properly size, align, support, and grade all installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Additional duties include basic carpentry, minor electrical work, equipment maintenance (Air Handling Units, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment), and safety checks.
  • Support a clean and organized work environment, including mechanical, electrical, storage rooms, and the central utility plant.
  • Maintain detailed records of work and client events using QFM software and logbooks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
