Role Details

Title: Plumber

Department: Facility Services

Reports To: Supervisor, Facility Services

Wage: $40.12 hourly wage effective July 1, 2024

Responsibilities
  • Install, alter, and maintain plumbing systems, domestic hot water tanks, boilers, water and sanitary systems, equipment, devices, and fixtures.
  • Maintain and repair fire sprinkler systems.
  • Direct, advise, or assist other employees as appropriate.
  • Assist in design, cost estimates, and preparation of materials for related projects, utilizing drawings, work sketches, and specifications.
  • Conduct periodic testing to ensure proper operation of systems.
  • Report inventory levels of parts and supplies.
  • Report work completed, including time and materials used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other maintenance-related or emergent duties.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an Apprenticeship Program and Interprovincial Trade Certificate as a Plumber.
  • A Class B Gas Fitter certificate of qualification.
  • Valid Cross Connection Control Certification.
  • Minimum five years of related experience at the journeyman level.
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 driver's license.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including WHMIS, Workers' Compensation regulations, and traffic regulations.
  • Competent in the use and care of tools and equipment common to this trade.
  • Ability to plan, schedule work, and organize workload effectively.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills.
Tools and Equipment

Hand tools, power tools, threading/cutting machines, and other relevant plumbing equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Sufficient vision to perform duties.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment of the trade.
  • Manual dexterity and physical capability to perform duties.
