Job summary

Waltec Electrical Services Ltd. in New Tecumseth, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Automation Programmer to design and commission turnkey PLC/HMI projects for the company’s customers.

The role involves independent work, collaboration with customers, and travel to sites as required. You will work with Allen-Bradley RsLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk ME/SE, develop SCADA solutions, modify PLC logic, and train operators.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years programming experience.
• Experience with Allen Bradley RsLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk ME/SE.
• Understanding of PLC ladder logic and SCADA systems.
• Good communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design/program PLC and HMI turnkey solutions to customer specs with limited supervision.
• Work with customers during commissioning to ensure satisfaction.
• Debugging, testing and commissioning of projects.
• Train operators on system functions and operations.
• Modify existing PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Prepare Operator Interface Manuals with system functionality.
• Provide electrical machine commissioning and support on/off-site.
• Travel to customers' facilities for commissioning and service.
• Handle emergency service requirements when needed.
• Complete paperwork including work orders and red-line drawings.
• Support Service Department to resolve automation issues.

Shop Location: New Tecumseth, Ontario, Must be willing to travel when required for projects.

Position Type: In Person

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 44 hour work week, Overtime and Weekend work When Required

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Allen Bradley RsLogix 500 / 5000, Studio 5000 programming software and Factory Talk ME/SE Graphics designer is a must.
• Minimum 5 Years Programming experience required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Design/program PLC and HMI Turn Key Solutions For Projects with limited supervision to customer specifications.
• Work With Customers While Commissioning to ensure satisfaction with system.
• Debugging, testing and commissioning of projects.
• Train operators on system functions and operations.
• Modification of Existing Customer PLC's, HMI's, SCADA systems.
• Prepare Operator Interface Manual(s) describing functionality of systems
• Provide electrical machine commissioning and/ or technical support both on and off-site
• Commissioning and Service work requires travel to customers facilities.
• Respond to emergency service requirements when required.
• Responsible for completion of necessary paperwork including work orders/time sheets/Red line Electrical drawings.
• Support Service Department To Resolve Automation Service related issues.
• Support And Communicate issues / solutions to senior staff and project managers clearly and in a timely manner.
