About the Role :

CJOY 1460 is looking for a passionate and dynamic Play-by-Play Announcer to take on a key role in our local sports coverage. This is an exciting opportunity to become the voice of the Guelph Storm hockey broadcasts , delivering live play-by-play coverage for all regular season games.

This part-time position is ideal for a broadcaster with a strong command of the game, a polished on-air presence, and a passion for engaging the local sports community both on-air and online. The successful candidate will continue a long-standing tradition of excellence in Guelph Storm radio coverage, providing listeners with informative, energetic, and entertaining broadcasts.

You will contribute by :

  • Delivering live play-by-play radio broadcasts for all Guelph Storm regular season games.
  • Providing insightful and engaging commentary before, during, and after each game.
  • Hosting and technically producing live on-air content on weekends and during staff vacation coverage.
  • Collaborating with the Program Director (or designate) on game coverage and creative direction.
  • Creating compelling, shareable content to grow audience engagement on-air and online.
  • Interacting live and spontaneously with guests, co-hosts, and listeners.
  • Ensuring compliance with CBSC and CRTC regulations for all content.
  • Voicing commercials, station IDs, and promos as required.

Skills and experience you will bring :

  • Post-secondary education in broadcasting, journalism, or a related field.
  • Previous on-air radio or live sports broadcasting experience (required).
  • In-depth knowledge of hockey and live game calling.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong, engaging delivery.
  • Experience with iMediaTouch, Vox-Pro, Wide Orbit, and Burli are assets.
  • A disciplined approach to preparation, research, and storytelling.
  • Creativity and confidence in producing digital and social content.
  • A professional, authentic presence that resonates with local listeners.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to team success.
