Job description

About NexHealth

Our healthcare system remains frustratingly analog. When you live in a world of one‑tap car rides, instant meal delivery, and unlimited streaming, why do you still have to call to schedule a doctor’s appointment and fill out a clipboard in the waiting room?

  • Founded: 2017
  • Headquarters: San Francisco, CA
  • Funding: $177M Series C
  • Employees: 200+
  • Trusted by tens of thousands of providers and hundreds of health‑tech developers – forging the infrastructure layer that modern healthcare needs
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to help build and scale our foundational platforms. As NexHealth transforms how healthcare professionals deliver care and patients experience it, our internal systems must deliver top‑tier quality and customer value at high velocity. Your team will be responsible for building these systems from first principles—prototyping, productionizing solutions, and creating the rising tide that lifts all boats. This role will be based out of Toronto or Vancouver and embraces a hybrid working model that balances remote and onsite work.

What You’ll Do
  • Set the technical and cultural tone for the first Canadian engineering team and lead expansion north of the border
  • Hire and develop world‑class engineers to build a high‑performing team
  • Support engineers in career growth through mentorship, feedback, and leadership development
  • Ensure high technical standards through sound processes (e.g., architecture reviews, testing) and a strong engineering culture
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to define and execute long‑term platform roadmaps
  • Coordinate execution and collaborate across teams to deliver cross‑cutting, high‑impact initiatives
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven track record (6+ years) leading high‑performing engineering teams that thrive on innovation
  • 8+ years of total industry experience in software engineering
  • Exceptional people leadership skills with experience coaching engineers
  • Deep experience delivering large‑scale foundational infrastructure
  • Strong judgment balancing engineering velocity with long‑term technical quality
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Sales, and Customer Success
  • Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical and organizational roadmaps
  • A builder mindset with a history of scaling teams and systems in fast‑paced environments
  • Strong ownership and initiative in ambiguous, evolving contexts
  • Bias for action and data‑driven decision making
  • First‑principles thinking applied to both technical and organizational challenges
  • Deep care for people development and team health
  • Alignment with NexHealth’s core values and mission
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Compensation

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just the base salary component of NexHealth’s total compensation package for employees. Other benefits may include stock options, an unlimited paid time off policy, and up to 100% coverage on medical, vision and dental insurance.

NexHealth Compensation Range: $185,800—$307,800 CAD

Benefits
  • Full Medical, Dental, and Vision (up to 100% covered)
  • 401K and commuter benefits
  • Flexible PTO
  • High‑impact work that directly improves the healthcare experience for millions
Our Values
  • Solve the customer’s problems, not yours – think from the perspective of the customer.
  • Do the things others are not willing to do – pursue the hardest problems at the highest quality and fastest pace.
  • Take ownership – act like a founder and own your roles, decisions, and mistakes.
  • Say what’s on your mind, with positive intent – be direct, proactive, transparent, and frequent.
  • Default trust – trust is given to you by default; speed of communication and collaboration improve greatly.
  • Think in first principles – identify the problem, break it down, and validate assumptions through inquiry.
