Job summary

Canadian Tire Financial Services is seeking aPlatform Engineer to support Transportation Systems. You will maintain, enhance, and modernize critical enterprise applications across transportation, logistics, and customs.

This senior role combines production support with ongoing modernization to reduce tech debt and improve stability. You will collaborate with SRE, Infrastructure, Security, and Vendor teams while delivering changes through full lifecycle processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, application development, or production application support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle databases, SQL and PL/SQL.
• Strong Unix/Linux experience, including Bash scripting.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Java applications (Struts, Spring, Spring Boot).
• Experience with C#/.NET and SSIS or similar enterprise technologies.
• Experience with batch processing, scheduled jobs, and file transfers (SFTP/FTP).
• Experience with Apache Tomcat and related middleware.
• Exposure to Azure, CI/CD, DevOps, React/Angular and cloud modernization is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance enterprise applications and components.
• Investigate complex production incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement durable fixes.
• Deliver changes through development, testing, deployment and production implementation.
• Analyze performance, reliability, and operational issues to identify improvements.
• Support lifecycle upgrades for databases, OS, middleware, and frameworks.
• Provide Level 3 application support for transportation, logistics, supply chain, and customs systems.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives including technology refreshes and platform migrations.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, inventories, and troubleshooting guides.

You will be a senior hands-on technical contributor focused on system stability, production support, application development, and the ongoing modernization of legacy technology platforms.
