Job summary

A leading technology consultant company is looking for an experienced SAP BW Architect to design and lead the migration of SAP BW data to Google BigQuery. The ideal candidate will work on developing scalable data integration architectures, implementing ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensuring data quality and security. Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience with SAP BW, strong data modeling skills, and a good understanding of cloud data engineering tools. The position is hybrid, located in either Mississauga or Montreal.

Overview

Mississauga OR Montreal - Hybrid (at least 3-4 days in office because they must work with other architects too)

Description

Design the overall SAP BW architecture, including LSALSA concepts, data flows, and integration patterns. Architect and lead the migration replication of SAP BW data to Google BigQuery using tools such as SAP Data Services (BODS) SAP SLT (if applicable) SAP Extractors ODP framework Google Cloud Data Fusion, DataFlow, PubSub, and BigQuery connectors. Develop scalable, secure data integration architectures between on-prem SAP systems and GCP. Define architecture standards for reporting, analytics, and data warehouse modernization.

Data Modeling & Development

Design and optimize data models within SAP BW, including InfoProviders, ADSOs, InfoObjects Open ODS Views, Composite Providers BW Queries, BEx structures. Build and optimize BigQuery data models for enterprise analytics, ensuring performance, partitioning, and cost-efficiency. Lead rationalization of SAP BW legacy objects and modernization to BW4HANA (if applicable). Lead end-to-end data pipeline design between SAP BW and GCP. Implement ETL/ELT pipelines using a combination of SAP tools and GCP services. Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and monitoring frameworks. Optimize realtime and batch data ingestion patterns.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with business analysts, functional SAP teams, and data engineering teams to understand analytical requirements. Translate business needs into scalable architecture and design artifacts. Provide technical leadership, conduct architecture reviews, and ensure solution alignment with enterprise data strategy.

Performance & Security Operations

Perform landscape assessments, performance tuning, and workload optimization. Ensure data security and compliance standards across SAP BW and GCP environments. Define and document operational processes for change management, backup, and recovery.

Qualifications

• 8 years of hands on experience with SAP BW BW on HANA BW4HANA. Strong expertise in BW data modeling, data extraction, and performance tuning.
• Experience integrating SAP BW with Google BigQuery GCP analytics stack.
• Proficiency with SAP data extraction technologies ODP ODQ SAP Extractors BAPI Function Module-based extraction SAP Data Services BODS
• Strong understanding of cloud data engineering tools BigQuery Cloud Composer Airflow Data Fusion Dataflow
• Strong SQL skills (preferably BigQuery SQL). Architecture Expertise
• Experience designing enterprise data warehouse and analytics architectures. Strong understanding of data modeling methodologies (star schema, LSA, semantic layers). Knowledge of API-based integration and hybrid on-prem cloud patterns.
