Job summary

FCA Canada Inc. is seeking a Plant Quality Engineer (PQE) located at Windsor to own product conformity for systems and components.

The PQE reports to the PQE Lead and collaborates with salaried and hourly plant and corporate personnel to complete projects within their area of responsibility. The PQE will validate changes, lead continuous quality improvements, and support KPI-driven quality targets while ensuring deep understanding of the build process from a 4M1D perspective.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Strong data analytics ability to identify top issues and track corrective actions.
• Effective presentation/public speaking skills across organization levels.
• Experience with problem solving tools and coaching others.

Responsibilities

The Plant Quality Engineer (PQE) - Responsible for all aspects of product conformity for their systems / Components at the XYZ Plant.The PQE reports directly to the PQE Lead and will build effective relationships with both salaried andhourly,assembly plant/corporate personnel,in order tocomplete projects within their area of responsibility.

This position is for an existing vacancy.

The salary for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Validating product changes, providing technicalexpertise, and improving outgoing quality that will meet or exceed our customers’ expectations
• With unquestioned integrity and strength of conviction, the PQE responds to manufacturing quality issues and manages all product changes
• Through the usage of advanced problem-solving methods and SPW kaizenmethodology, the PQE supports all continuous quality improvement initiatives within the plant
• PQE must work collaboratively with cross-functional manufacturing teams andfacilitatesconsensus and drive action from the main stakeholders
• Support external quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management for achieving targets, driving improvement/corrective actions and escalation
• Review warranty/Customer Quality Insight (CQI) claims daily,maintainissue stratification andmaintaintheportionof Warranty Wall responsible for their area
• Lead improvement activities in vehicle quality by addressing nonconformity to product quality targets (SCA, VLO, BSR, and TDF performance driven to assigned targets)
• Support Corporate Quality objectives/deliverables and communicate requirements to all groups involved to ensure goals are achieved
• Collaborate and lead internal and external resourcestoachieve project/program timing
• Lead teams toidentifyissues/risks associated with product designs,processesand applications by utilizing FMEA’s and other risk assessment tools

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university (other Engineering degrees, in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
• Well versed in both Microsoft and Google applications
• Ability to perform data analysisto identify top issues, summarize trends, distinctions, and effectiveness of corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
• Effective presentation/public speaking skills (comfortablepresentingto all levels of the organization)
• Experience with problem solving tools
• Able to demonstrate both coaching and teaching
• Self-motivated and directed
• Ability to thrive in a high intensity environment while working on multiple projects
• A passion for spending time on the shop floor and fully understanding the build process from a 4M1D standpoint (man, method, machine, material, and design)
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Degree
• Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt Certification
• Previous experience in resolving complex issues; including root cause, repairs, etc.
• Previous experience in Product Engineering and/ or Vehicle Integration / Development at supplier or Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer
• Previous Manufacturing and/or Quality experience within a vehicle/Component assembly plant
