Airswift is working with one of our major clients in the Oil & Gas industry to find a Plant Process Operator to join their team in Cold Lake, AB. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.
Overview
Responsible for liaising with the Control Room Technician (CRT) and other Operations Technicians on job safety requirements to ensure understanding of work objectives, safety, health, environmental, Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS), and security concerns. Supports the CRT/Ops Supervisor in overseeing area activities, ensuring safety and efficiency. Works in a crew environment to manage activities involved with safe and efficient operation of plant units and sulfur recovery operations. Performs equipment surveillance.
Skills and Qualifications
- 20+ years industry experience in operations or similar (required)
- 3rd class powering engineering certificate
- Extensive knowledge of production operations/processes
- Extensive knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, and UFDs
- Ability to read shutdown logic diagrams
- High standard of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and promotes it in others
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written) in English
- Strong interpersonal and motivation skills
- Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
- Advanced understanding and operation of Emergency Preparedness Procedures
- Advanced knowledge of safety management tools and processes (Permit to Work (PTW), Stepback 5x5, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment)
- Understanding of Controls Integrity Management System (CIMS), safety management tools, and Production Operations Best Practices (POBP)/Planning & Budgeting (P&B) processes
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with contractor personnel to maintain a safe work environment
- Participate in Operations Emergency Response activities
- Support and coordinate with Systems Completion team during start-up and commissioning
- Review work packages for planned maintenance, ensuring isolation requirements and safe equipment preparation
- Endorse Work Permits as the Area Operator (AO) and Isolating Authority (IA) when required
- Encourage teamwork between Maintenance and Operations groups
- Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness
- Ensure CRT is informed and consulted on operations and major issues
- Maintain good communication between areas to address issues and complete actions
- Maintain good housekeeping in the area
- Keep daily logs and shift changeover notes
- Perform physical tasks safely, such as moving drums, lifting, climbing
- Perform minor equipment maintenance as needed
- Maintain high standards of plant housekeeping
- Make process adjustments to ensure quality control within standards
