Job summary

Mangrove Lithium is seeking a Plant Operator to run electrochemical processing equipment at the Delta, BC facility. You will commission, operate, and troubleshoot a range of units, including digestors, brine treatment, evaporators, crystallizers, and our electrolyser technology.

Applicants should be comfortable handling chemicals, have a strong safety mindset, and be capable of working day and night shifts as part of a flexible schedule. Prior experience with SCADA/HMI systems is preferred.

Qualifications

Description

Mangrove is looking for a skilled Plant Operator to operate electrochemical processing equipment and ensure the efficient running of our production plant located in Delta, BC (Tilbury). The individual will have a diverse and well-rounded technical skill set that includes working with chemicals such as acids and bases. The plant operator will control and monitor process equipment to produce battery-grade lithium chemicals. The plant operator’s responsibilities include commissioning of our new production facility, preparation and handling chemical batches, operation of various unit operations and resolving any operational issues that may arise. This role presents the opportunity to work with a broad variety of process equipment including digestors, brine treatment and filtration, evaporators, boilers, crystallizers and our proprietary electrolyser technology. Mangrove Lithium is a growing organization and this position features interaction with cross-functional teams with distinct expertise.

Note

This position is located at our Tilbury (Delta, BC) facility and will feature a regular cycle of day and night shifts. The location is accessible via transit, however night shifts may require more reliable transportation arrangements.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for this role is $31.25 - $43.27/hr depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that our safety and environmental rules and programs continue to meet a high standard of excellence, and are consistently adhered to.
  • Monitoring electrochemical plant operations and equipment by interacting with SCADA and HMIs as well as analog gauges and indicators
  • Performing start-up, shutdown, and operations of process equipment.
  • Assisting with process and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Identifying and solving process and equipment problems.
  • Conceptualizing and recommending plant improvement strategies.
  • Keeping records of operation including activity logs.
  • Training new hires and cross-training other staff members.
Required Education, Skills, And Experience
  • Safety is our top priority – a strong safety mindset is mandatory.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma with an understanding of basic chemistry.
  • Proficiency in math, chemistry and other technical subjects is essential.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with electrochemical systems, water treatment, and crystallization are strong assets.
  • A good understanding of the function of process equipment and components.
  • A proven ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Experience with HMI or SCADA-based operation of process equipment, such as Ignition.
  • Ability to follow schematics, standard operating procedures, and manuals.
  • Ability to execute an experiment on process equipment with variable conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts and weekends.
