About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to oversee operations at our Soil Washing Plant located at 7501 Barnet Highway, Burnaby, BC. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient, safe, and sustainable processing of construction and demolition waste into valuable recycled materials. The Plant Manager will be responsible for all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, safety, compliance, and team leadership.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Promote a safety culture by engaging with employees, providing visual leadership, and implementing and maintaining local and regional initiatives with the objective of “zero” safety incidents, ensuring adherence, administration, and promotion of safety policies, processes, and execution of procedures to ensure the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and regulatory guidelines (WCB).
  • Complete accurate forecasting, ensure production schedules serve customer needs and meet inventory targets, drive a culture of performance and exceeding results, implement purchasing policies, procedures, and directives, and provide cost-effective solutions for onsite problems.
  • Ensure planned production meets forecasted demand while serving customers with timely shipping strategies and quality-assured products. Engage with Sales and other stakeholders to provide solution selling and identify opportunities for customer service improvements/further sales.
  • Develop and execute on production plans, oversee adjustments to meet key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), drive group efficiencies and manage production performance, ensure a Preventative Maintenance module is in place and functioning, and ensure the management of mobile equipment is in place and functional (PM, Forecasting, Safety, Operational Efficiency).
  • Be responsible for the development, motivation, scheduling, and training of all site personnel, provide leadership for employees by working closely with them on a daily basis, contribute to the development of emerging leaders, provide effective delegation of tasks with accountability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development, encouraging innovation in soil treatment technologies.
  • Ensure that the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines and that site operations are conducted with minimal negative impact on the surrounding environment and communities.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Lafarge and regulatory requirements governing waste management and environmental protection.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
What We’re Looking For

Education: University Degree

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering or Business Management

Required Work Experience: 2-5 years of experience in water treatment plant operations, preferably with Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems

Required Technical Skills: MS Office, Google Suite

Travel Requirements: 5%

Additional Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, chemical dosing, and sludge management.
  • Experience working within environmental compliance frameworks and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting of treatment system components.
  • Good understanding of general accounting principles an asset.
  • Good organization, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the aggregate industry preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communications.
  • Strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making.
  • Good time management, self directed, uses time wisely, can attend to a broad range of activities.
