Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for managing all aspects related to production in a fast-paced manufacturing site. The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall performance of production, including establishing and maintaining business objectives, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental responsibilities, developing, and leading a competent and engaged team.

  • This is an on-site role based in Winnipeg, MB
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring excellence through the 5 plant fundamentals of safety, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, productivity, and quality as outlined below
  • Has a continuous improvement mentality to drive a site culture focused on excellence across all functions and personnel roles
  • Leverages best practices across sites, including sharing new best practices and learning from other sites
  • Responsible for ensuring BOMs are correct, and product is manufactured within BOM cost and quality commitments
  • Spends at least 80% of time on floor, interacting with plant teams and leadership
  • Assists with preparation of annual production budget and capital project requests
  • Uses key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress, including P&L’s, Daily Production Reports, BI dashboards, Vorne XL boards, and other OPS reports and tools
  • Holds self and employees accountable for creating and implementing best practices and doing what is right for the business
  • Appraises employee performance and recommends appropriate actions to leadership
  • Directs development of training programs to promote employee engagement
  • Leverages standardized skills matrices and customized job interviews by role to ensure consistency in hiring talent that aligns with the required skillset for each role on the site
  • Set expectations with employees on good, consistent customer service & responsiveness
  • Ensures top quality products that meet on time delivery expectations
  • Ensures production plans and schedules are in place and team is executing to them
  • Drives labor best practices, managing on-time starts and employee overtime through OPS tools and BI dashboards
  • Conducts daily shift huddles are being conducted and utilizing huddle boards
  • Ensures site leaders are leveraging shift huddle data to manage downtime and working with maintenance lead to manage PM schedules
  • Leads weekly site performance reviews with both production and maintenance leads
  • Leads monthly downtime workshops, utilizing OPS dashboards and tools and includes both production and maintenance leads
  • Reports site performance using KPIs and OPS dashboards in a monthly performance review with business leaders
  • Ensures any reported hazards are immediately mitigated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Attend and support monthly safety training
  • Directs implementation of a best-in-class quality program to ensure consistent, top-quality products with minimal junk
  • Ensures products meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Ensures products meet and exceed company set specifications and that product remains within BOM cost commitments
