Job summary

Univar Solutions Canada LTD is hiring a Plant Manager to supervise a fast-paced chemical distribution facility in Canada. You will lead an operations team of 20-30 employees, oversee yard and warehouse activities, and manage production, packaging, and safety programs to meet KPIs and cost targets.

The role requires a university degree and several years in logistics/operations, with leadership experience in a chemical context preferred. Relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering, Business Admin, or Logistics.
• Five years of warehouse experience, three in supervision.
• Experience in the chemical manufacturing or distribution industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a 20-30 person operations team.
• Oversee yard, warehouse, and transloading of bulk chemicals.
• Oversee production and packaging of blends.
• Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution SOPs.
• Manage inventory counts and data reconciliation.
• Develop annual capital budget and monitor expenditures.
• Set goals with management and prioritize safety.
• Oversee general office duties and admin tasks.
• Some outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Manager is a key member of our Operations team and directs the daily supervision of the operation staff to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Lead, coach, and mentor an operations team of 20-30 employees including 3 supervisors
• Oversee all operation related activities in the facility yard and warehouse
• Oversee transloading of bulk chemicals in facility yard
• Oversee production and packaging of blends
• Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and following standard operational procedures, programs, and policies
• Overseeing inventory levels by ensuring physical counts, and reconciliation with data storage system
• Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual capital budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
• Interact with management to set and achieve goals relative to business needs and KPI’s while ensuring that safety remains the number 1 priority.
• Oversee general office duties and administrative responsibilities
• Some outdoor work required in various weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• University degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Logistics with five (5) years warehouse experience, three (3) of which in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in the chemical manufacturing or distribution industry is preferred.
• Experience with handling chemicals
• Experience with rail sidings
• Experience with production and packaging of totes, drums and pails.
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and demonstrates initiative.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer and mathematical skills
• Must have the ability to read and understand technical materials
• Forklift operation experience an asset
• WHMIS and/or TDG training an asset
• Must be able to lift upwards of 50lbs on a regular basis

PAY AND BENEFITS:
The annual expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to 130,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
