Our amazing client is looking for a Plant Manager to join their long-standing organization.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations for the facility all while providing excellent leadership to raise productivity and develop talent. This individual will value devoted leadership, believing empowering their workers will empower them.

The Plant Manager will work closely with all operational departments of the company from warehousing, maintenance, shipping, and receiving, as well as have a close relationship with human resources. Customer service, teamwork, adaptability, safety, and taking initiative are a must. Being open to the multicultural team and varying viewpoints is key to being successful in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties will include providing overall leadership and strategic direction for operations, warehousing, and maintenance. Responsibilities will involve guiding the team and instilling best practices to meet production, quality, and food safety goals, as well as efficiencies, process compliance, and health and safety standards.

The key job functions are:

  • Managing all day-to-day operations for the facility
  • Providing leadership to raise productivity and develop talent
  • Providing strategic direction for the plant – capital expenditures, budget management, performance management/success planning of the team, and culture
  • Being responsible for all operational departments, maintenance, warehouse, and shipping
  • Overseeing hiring, progressive disciplines, terminations, performance management, and talent development while working alongside the HR department
  • Supporting new product development and improvement
  • Developing equipment preventative maintenance schedules and recommending machine replacements
  • Managing operational budgets and actively participating in developing the company’s short and long-term project growth
  • Contributing to annual business planning and budgeting
  • Reviewing all departmental projects, looking for improvements in cost reduction, safety, customer requirements, and market growth
  • Improving production standards through time studies and other standard data development methods
  • Coordinating the company’s Health & Safety program

Education:

  • University degree or college diploma in engineering or manufacturing management
  • And/or minimum of 7 years’ equivalent experience

Qualifications:

  • Advanced English skills are required to read, comprehend, and deliver instructions, correspondence, blueprints, and verbal communication
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions, identify root causes, and develop solutions
  • Ability to work in loud environments with constant noise and above normal temperatures during summer months
  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is an asset

Experience:

  • Understanding of inventory, supply chain, and production management
  • Knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing (asset)
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel, Word, and JD Edwards

Skills:

  • Strong inventory, supply chain, and production management skills
  • People development – have the mindset that empowering your workers is the best policy
  • Adaptable
  • The ability to take initiative

Base Salary: $125,000 to $140,000 annually

Work Hours:

  • 5:00am to 2:30pm (ideal, but flexible)

Remote Work:

  • This position is not remote. You are required to be on site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
