Job summary

BERICAP North America is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the Burlington plant, drive efficiency, safety, and productivity, and lead cross-functional teams across Production, Maintenance, and Process departments.

The role focuses on budgeting, quality control, equipment maintenance, and workforce management to ensure smooth plant operations and alignment with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Must have university degree in engineering or business administration (preferred).
  • Ten years of progressive management experience with at least five years as a production manager in plastics or food manufacturing.
  • Experience across disciplines such as Quality, Materials, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, Development, Maintenance and Manufacturing.
  • Continuous improvement experience (QOS, Six Sigma) and ISO/SKF familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe environment for all Bericap employees and uphold food safety requirements.
  • Lead production, maintenance, and process teams; ensure efficiency and adherence to schedules.
  • Oversee daily operations, monitor KPIs for throughput, downtime, and yield.
  • Develop and manage plant budgets, track ROI, and authorize purchases and expenses.
  • Align safety, quality, cost, delivery and people objectives with corporate goals.
  • Provide regular performance reports to senior management; manage capacity and launches.
  • Lead safety audits, emergency drills, and See It, Sort It, Report It improvements.
  • Mentor and develop plant staff; conduct annual performance reviews.

Job description

The primary purpose is to manage production processes, optimize resources, and lead cross functional teams to meet business objectives. Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Bericap’s Burlington Plant, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and safety. This position plays a crucial role in budgeting, quality control, equipment maintenance, and workforce management to ensure smooth plant operations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a safe environment for all Bericap employees
  • As part of the food safety team, this position has responsibility for assisting in creating, maintaining and reviewing food safety plans and other pre-requisite programs
  • Manages the Production, Maintenance, and Process teams
  • Ensures that quality standards are established, understood at required levels and incorporated in all manufacturing practices
Operations Management
  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure efficiency, quality and adherence to schedules
  • Implement and monitor KPIs for throughput, downtime, and yield
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet manufacturing targets
  • Ensures that production objectives are at the lowest cost consistent with quality production
  • Through direct reports, oversees execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity
  • Management of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Commercialization of signed off new equipment and/or product startups
  • Approves all plant purchase orders and expense reports
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities in labor, materials, and energy
Strategic Planning & Reporting
  • Aligning corporate objectives into clear achievable plant goals, ensuring alignment across safety, quality, cost, delivery and people objectives
  • Provide regular reports for senior management on performance metrics
  • Establishes plant operating budgets on an annual basis and monitors the adherence to them
  • Support new product launches and capacity expansion projects by assessing operational readiness
  • Track ROI on investments
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce EHS policies and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead safety audits and emergency preparedness drills
  • Champion the See It, Sort It, Report It Continuous Improvement System
Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop plant staff across all departments
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the local site’s management systems, by reviewing issues reported by their employees, attending management reviews, ensuring adequate resources, and promoting continuous improvement
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation
  • Conduct yearly performance reviews and identify training needs for senior, supervisor, and Management in the Production, Process, Mold Shop, and Maintenance Departments
Other
  • Ensure all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well as all other Company policies and procedures are followed
  • Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, and environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and without injury.

Education

Experience

  • Continuous Improvement through QOS, 6 Sigma
