Job summary

Advanced Bending Technologies in Calgary seeks a hands-on General Plant Manager to lead two complementary industrial businesses from a single site. You’ll oversee about 60 employees, drive safety, productivity, and profitability, and build systems to scale operations.

You’ll develop people, align performance with customer needs, manage costs, and collaborate with sales to pursue growth opportunities while maintaining high quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial manufacturing, metal fabrication, pipe processing, welding, bending, or a related environment.
• Experience managing a manufacturing facility or multiple production teams with accountability for people and results.
• Hands-on technical foundation from trades, engineering, or managing skilled trades.
• Proven track record of improving operational processes, KPIs, and accountability.
• Commercial awareness and experience with budgets, costs, and operational performance.
• Hands-on leadership style with big-picture thinking.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations: Oversee ASME welding/fabrication, cold bending, hot bending, and painting and blasting operations, supporting department leads and stepping in where needed to strengthen leadership and performance.
• Drive performance: Establish and monitor KPIs, improve production efficiency, manage costs, and ensure quality standards and delivery commitments are met.
• Build better systems: Develop practical processes, reporting structures, and operational standards that improve consistency, accountability, and scalability.
• Lead people: Coach and develop department leads and employees, build a strong team culture, and establish clear expectations and accountability.
• Support customers and growth: Work with customers and the sales team on existing business, new opportunities, estimating, and service delivery.
• Own the facility: Take responsibility for site safety, equipment and facility maintenance, and the overall day-to-day management of the Calgary operation.

Operating from a shared Calgary site, the businesses combine specialized technical capabilities with a strong focus on quality, customer service, and reliable execution.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on, technically minded General Plant Manager to lead two complementary industrial businesses operating from our Calgary site. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a specialized manufacturing operation, lead an experienced team, and help build the systems and processes needed to support continued growth.

Overseeing approximately 60 employees across both businesses, you’ll lead day-to-day operations, develop your people, strengthen performance, and ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently, and profitably.

What You Bring

• Relevant experience in industrial manufacturing, metal fabrication, pipe processing, welding, bending, or a related environment.
• Experience managing a manufacturing facility, industrial operation, or multiple production teams, with responsibility for people, performance, and results.
• A strong technical foundation, gained through hands-on trades experience, engineering, or managing skilled trades and manufacturing teams.
• A track record of improving operational processes, implementing KPIs, and building accountability.
• Commercial awareness and experience working with customers, budgets, costs, and operational performance.
• A practical, hands-on leadership style, with the confidence to solve problems on the floor while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
