The Opportunity

As a Plant Electrician with the Corporation, you will work at our Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), where we have made significant strides towards reducing the City’s carbon footprint, air emissions and overall operating costs. More recently, this facility was equipped with a new Building Automation System (BAS) that controls building heating and ventilation, as well as new higher efficiency turbo blowers. We are proud of our achievements at the WPCP, as our facilities provide the ideal environment for sustainability and a great place to work!

Our Plant Electricians maintain and install electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment used in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and wastewater lift stations.

The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has the following accountabilities:

  • Plans, installs, repairs, maintains, connects, tests electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and wiring for systems of alarm, communication, light, heat, and power in buildings or other structures.
  • Purchases equipment, material and parts required and recommends spare parts for inventory.
  • Obtains proper electrical permits for any retrofits, repairs or new construction.
  • Maintains and upgrades plant schematics, manuals, operating procedures and narratives.
  • Installs, programs, and maintains Programmable Logic Controllers and Graphics Packages.
  • Participates in the Plant’s facility maintenance system and recommends changes or modifications to such systems.

Ideal Candidate

  • Journeyman Electrician together with an Electronics Endorsement.
  • Fire Alarm Endorsement would be desirable.
  • Must have proven experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems and be knowledgeable in the use of computer drafting software.
